iPhone X Face ID not working after change screen repair tutorial

Note: This iPhone X Face ID not working after change screen repair tutorial offer by REWA. You can go to their website blog.rewatechnology.com to watch the video.

Recently we got many messages about face ID not available after screen replacement from our clients, which surprised our technicians greatly. Since the screen replacing would not affect face ID function at all according to our practical verification. However, REWA LAB has done some further researches and will share you the detailed analysis and solution for face ID failure caused by damage of flex cable after repair here.
How does face ID work?
First, let’s understand how face ID works. The whole functional area is dubbed the “TrueDepth camera system”, which is made up of flood illuminator, infrared camera, front camera, dot projector, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, speaker and microphone. Every time you glance at your iPhone X, the flood illuminator detects your face with infrared light and forms an image. Then the dot projector will project out over 30,000 invisible infrared dots over your face to create a 3D map. Last, the infrared camera reads this map and sends the data to neural networks to create a mathematical model of your face. Your iPhone X will check that mathematical model against the one that you’ve set up and stored on your device to see if it’s a match, and if it is, it will unlock your phone.

How do we repair?
According to the description, this iPhone X was dropped once. However, the face ID is in normal status. It fails to work until a replacement of screen assembly. With all the knowledge, we begin our repair.
Power on the phone and it shows “unable to activate Face ID on this iPhone”. So we resort to resetting face ID. Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Reset Face ID. We get the message “Face ID is Not Available, try setting up Face ID later”. Our initial judgment is that the unavailable Face ID might be caused by misoperation in the screen replacing process. Therefore, next thing we do is to check flex cables that are related to Face ID.
How To Fix iPhone X Face ID Not Working After Repairing
Disassemble the phone. And check the Infrared camera and dot projector module under Microscope first. Nothing goes wrong. Then move to the Flood illuminator module on the earpiece speaker assembly. Check the connector and flex cables carefully. Still, nothing goes wrong.
How To Fix iPhone X Face ID Not Working After Repairing
Then remove screws. And detach the earpiece speaker and front sensor assembly from the phone. Be careful not to damage flex cables in the process since the Flood illuminator module is bonded to glass lens with double-sided tape. We can see clearly that the flex cable where locates the Flood illuminator module is fractured at the edge.
How To Fix iPhone X Face ID Not Working After Repairing
Since the Flood illuminator module is an essential part for Face ID circuit, damage of the flex cable can result in not working of it, which can absolutely affect normal working of Face ID. Also, as flex cable repair is difficult, we can solder the Flood illuminator module to a new flex cable. To replace with a new flex cable, we need to separate the earpiece speaker and the ambient light sensor module from the earpiece speaker and front sensor assembly first. Heating with Soldering Iron, the ear speaker was separated successfully. Then, secure the flex cable in the place with High-Temperature Protective Tape for further separating the ambient light sensor module flex cable. Soldering Iron and Hot Air Gun are required to remove this flex cable. Once done, remove excess tins on the flex cable with Soldering Iron and clean with PCB Cleaner.
Now the fractured flex cable is separated completely. Next thing we do is to replace with a new flex cable. Remove the Flood illuminator module on the flex cable first. Prepare a new flex cable. Apply some Paste Flux to the bonding pad. Align the Flood illuminator module in place with the new flex cable. Be careful with the direction. Then solder with Hot Air Gun. Remove residual glue on the module afterward.
How To Fix iPhone X Face ID Not Working After Repairing
The repair part is almost over right the moment. Next thing we need to do is to re-solder the ambient light sensor module and earpiece speaker. However, the soldering of the ambient light sensor is a most difficult part for this repair. Whatever, let’s do it. Apply some Paste Flux to the bonding pad of ambient light sensor module. Then apply tins to the bonding pad with Soldering Iron. Clean with PCB Cleaner. Apply some Paste Flux to the bonding pad again. Get the detached ambient light sensor module flex cable in position. Secure the flex cable with one specific position soldered by Soldering Iron with curved nozzle first. Then use Soldering Iron with cutter nozzle to complete the remaining soldering process. Clean with PCB Cleaner afterwards. Now we need to solder the earpiece speaker back to flex cable.
How To Fix iPhone X Face ID Not Working After Repairing
It’s time to get the earpiece speaker and front sensor assembly assembled to the display assembly. Re-assemble the phone and test. Press power button to power on. Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Set up Face ID. Face ID can be set up successfully. Press the power button to lock the screen. Press the power button again. The screen lights up. Glance at the iPhone X. The screen can be unlocked automatically. Fault cleared.

How can I recover the data from my dead iPhone 6S?

A faulty or dead iPhone is a disaster for many people, however losing all the photos and data of your phone without any backup seems to be an even greater disaster. iPhone data recovery thus becomes very important in cell phone repair industry. We are going to show you how to recover the losing data from a dead phone.
Connect the battery connector with DC Power Supply, and press the power button to power on, there is no response from the screen.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
However, current reading on the ammeter is normal, which indicates that the phone is turning on yet with black screen.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Our initial judgment is that the display circuit might have been damaged, and we need to check LCD/Digitizer Connector J4200. Run diode mode measurement of pins relevant to display on J4200. The measured value of Pin 33 is lower than normal value, which is abnormal.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Pin 33 is the reset signal pin for display circuit, the reset signal sent out by Pin J3 on CPU reaches Pin 33 via FL4221, C4221 and C4220. Our next move is to detach FL4221, C4221 and C4220 for further measurement.
First, remove sponge around the connector with tweezers.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Then stick High Temperature Protective Tape on connectors around.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Heat with Hot Air Gun at 330℃, air flow 1, detach FL4221, C4221 and C4220 from the board.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Then tear off the High Temperature Protective Tape and run diode mode measurement of the two pins on FL4221. The measured value of Pin 2 is abnormal.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Since Pin 2 is connected directly to CPU, we can confirm now that CPU has been damaged. As we all know, a damaged CPU can not be replaced separately. And therefore the 1.8V AP_TO_LCM_RESET signal cannot be supplied. To avoid data loss, we can recover data by voltage borrowing.
Choose an 1.8V voltage point nearby, For example, C4118 for our course today, which is the 1.8V voltage point of BUTTON_MENU_KEY_L.
First, remove sponge around with tweezers.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Then heat with Hot Air Gun at 270℃ to remove black adhesive.
Run voltage mode measurement of C4118, the measured value is 1.8V, which is perfect for all operation.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Apply some Paste Flux to FL4221 bonding pad, the remove tins on the pad with Soldering Iron at 350℃, prepare a length of tin applied Enameled Copper Wire of 0.1mm in diameter, heat with Soldering Iron at 350℃. With one end of the wire soldered to C4118, solder the other end to Pin 1 of FL4221. Once done, clean with PCB Cleaner.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Now we can assemble the phone and test, Connect the battery connector with DC Power Supply and press power button to power on.The phone turns on normally.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Connect the phone to computer with a digital cable, launch the iPhone Data Recovery software iTools.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Go to Toolbox>Phone Transfer, choose ’Restore backup’, and click on ’Backup’ to start the Backup process. Once finished, save all the recovered data on the computer.
How can I recover data from dead iPhone 6S
Tips: make sure that the screen stays on during the data recovery process, otherwise the data recovery might fail. Also, this works for data recovery only, the phone is still not prepared enough for normal use. iPhone 6s data recovery from dead board completed successfully.
It is a special case for the iPhone 6S data recovery, if you use others iPhone devices and want to recover the date what you lost, REWA will be your best choice. More info please go to blog.rewatechnology.com

Maybe you need a new battery for your phone

Have you met this situation that the battery power becomes less after charged one hour? This is something quite a few users complained about. While you may think that have to replace a new battery, that usually isn’t the case. So, what is causing this problem? Maybe the charging port is full of dirt or the cables may be damaged. Also, a software or hardware issue can cause this problem.  Those signs that your iPhone need a new battery.
Sometime it is the hardware issue, you can find a tutorial from iPhone 6 not charging with logic board repair.
The likelihood of your cell phone’s performance will not stay at one hundred percent forever. Your cell phone is likely to give a little more trouble, slow down or lose charge quickly as time goes by. The problems you may be experiencing with your phone may be caused by various things, including the need for a new battery for your phone.
The Signs That Your Phone Needs A New Battery
There are various signs that can tell you if your phone needs to get a new battery. You can tell that your battery needs changing if…
1. Your phone is dead: We mean completely and permanently dead. We mean that it just isn’t charging or able to come on. When there are no signs of power or life in the phone, even after it has been charged with a good chargers, you may just need to get a new battery.
2. Your phone only shows power when it’s on the charger or it doesn’t power on after it has been given ample time to charge up: This means that your battery does not hold the energy that it gets from the power source. If this is the case with your battery, you need a new one.
3. Your phone dies quickly: If you’re not playing games, listening to music surfing the web, using Bluetooth or doing something else that may be causing your battery to die. However, a battery that dies very quickly after it has been fully charged, may also be a classic sign that you need a new battery.
4. Your battery or phone starts getting very hot: It is actually quite normal for batteries to generate heat when charging, but their heat is internalized. Batteries that need to be changed, are those that generate or cause the phone to generate external heat.
5. Your battery bulges: The bulge in a battery means that the internal cells have ruptured and that simply means that the battery needs to be changed.

MacBook Pro Troubleshooting

The sleeker design with the thinner bezels, brighter retina screen, impressive audio quality, and fast performance, the new 2016 MacBook Pros prove clear departure from the previous generation. With last year’s 2016 MacBook Pro family proving to be one of the fastest selling laptops of the year, some unpleasant issues also emerged. Today we will introduce some of the most mentioned 2016 MacBook pro common problems. Since problems may be annoying, solutions can be expected. REWA LAB has been working on MacBook these days and we are honored to offer repair solutions appropriately to the situation you may get in.

Keyboard Issues

‘I have had my new MacBook Pro 2016 w. Touch bar for almost 2 weeks. The first week I really loved the 2nd generation butterfly keyboard but the feel has changed. It seems to me some buttons doesn’t feel like the other ones like they aren’t moving deep enough. For instance the Enter button. Cant really tell if its imagination.’
2016 MacBook Pro Common Problems
The keyboard of the 2016 MacBook Pros is totally different from previous-generation MacBook Pro models, and the new butterfly mechanism also appeared to be less reliable compared to older construction techniques. A growing number of customers are running into issues with the keyboard. For example, the new MacBook Pros’ butterfly mechanism keys are noisy, and there are also keys that make different higher-pitched sounds than other keys in some cases, etc.

Speakers Popping

When it comes to the question that what an Apple Mac can do when Windows 10 machines can’t do easily and completely legally? The answer should be running both Windows and MacOS. Apple’s Boot Camp makes it easy for MacBooks to run the Windows operating system. However, it appears that Boot Camp might be causing some serious and uncharacteristic audio issues for those who like to dual boot. Reports of loud crackling and popping noises increased day by day and some even reported a permanent physical damage to their speakers by the annoying pop.

Battery Life

Here comes the most frequent complaints leveled at the new MacBook Pros, battery life. Battery life is an important attribute for a laptop, and it represents a significant portion of the overall score. Users of the Touch Bar model, in particular, realize that battery life is falling short of Apple’s 10-hour estimates for Web browsing and movie playback. According to Apple’s data, the new Pros’ battery life will be determined by what you’re using the machine for. That has always been the case. However, things are different for the new MacBook pros this time because of three things: smaller batteries, a more power efficient screen, Intel’s recent CPU stagnation, and the 15-inch models’ mandatory dedicated GPU. Each element can be listed as a reason for short battery life.

Graphics Issues

Since new MacBook Pro models launched last year, a variety of graphics issues have been reported from some buyers of the new MacBook Pro models, ranging from brightly colored flickering, full-screen checkerboard patterns and screen tearing to corrupt textures and tearing. Although it is not entirely clear if the issues are a hardware or software problem, the result can be annoying. The graphics appear to act up most when users are completing intensive tasks and affected systems may subsequently experience unresponsiveness or a kernel panic, sometimes resulting in the MacBook Pro crashing.
